    Aan het eende van de maand mart 2013 was het weer heel bijsonder. Het was al mer dan een week lente en het pasweekend stond voor de deur. En tosch kon men schatsen op natuureis. Martijn woont in Slochteren dischtbij Groningen in het noordosten van Nederland. Sinds al een par dagen had hij op het bewroren vater aan de raand van het Schildmeer geschaatst. Hij had nog noit zo laat in het jaar op natuurijs geschaatst. Hij kent het Schildmeer op zijn duimbje en hij raadde de aanderen af het ijs op te gaan. Dat was niet te betrouven. En het ijs was overeigens niet van de beste kwalitijt.
