Spelling: -C or K? - Dutch lesson

C of K ? C or K?

For Dutch words, we write K when we hear K.

For foreign words, it is more difficult: sometimes C when we hear K.

A few rules

We write -C :

1. Words ending in -ect	correct	Except for : sekt
2. Words ending in -uct	product
3. Words ending in -ctief	actief
4. Words ending in -catie, caris, catief	publicatie
5. Words ending in oct-	octaaf	Except for : oktober

We write -K :

Words beginning with elektr-

elektriciteit

Notes:
